Student Mentoring Breakfast

Monday, 6 November 2023
8:00 - 9:00 am

Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel

The 40th USAEE/IAEE North American Conference will offer a special opportunity for students to engage directly with seasoned professionals in the major areas of energy economics so as to hear first-hand about real careers and hard-won experiences.

This event provides informal mentoring opportunities between energy professionals and students who are contemplating which energy economics career path to pursue. However, this event is not intended to offer any direct entries into the jobs market, rather it aims to help students make better informed choices about career paths and to provide links with some of the subject matter mentors.

During an initial one hour period (8:00 - 9:00a.m) on Monday, November 6, students can join breakfast with mentors, ask questions and receive advice on how to best pursue different professional routes and the challenges you may encounter along the way. Any one-on-one follow-up after the occasion is entirely a matter for each student and individual mentor.

Open to all students registered for the 40th USAEE/IAEE North American Conference. This session is included with Student Registration; be sure to designate your attendance on the registration form.

Case Competition

The USAEE Virtual Case Competition is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for student teams to apply their knowledge of economics, engineering, and policy analysis. Participants will demonstrate their skills and ideas for potential employers, contribute to solving challenges in the field of energy economics, and compete for monetary prizes.
